Muslim commander and general in the Rashidun army "Al-Qaʿqaʿ ibn Amr al-Tamimi"

<p>Al-Qaʿqaʿ ibn Amr al-Tamimi was a Muslim commander and general in the Rashidun army.</p>
<p>He belonged to the tribe of Banu Tamim. He and his tribe converted to Islam possibly during the time of Ahnaf ibn Qais.</p>
<p>He is known as a successful Military Commander who took part in two important victorious battles in early Muslim Conquest, the Battle of Yarmouk against the Byzantine Empire (commanded by Khalid bin Walid RA).</p>
<p>And the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah against the Sassanian Empire which was led by Sa`d ibn Abi Waqqas (RA).</p>
<p>The Caliph Abu Bakr (RA) praised him as an equal to eleven thousand men.</p>
<p>Caliph Umar (RA) only sent him and a few bodyguards as reinforcement to Al-Qadissiyah in the first wave, making him one of the most admirable military figures of the time.</p>
<p>When Hazrat Umar (RA) wrote to Saad bin Abi Waqqas (RA) asking him “Which warrior proved to be the fiercest in the battle of al-Qadisiya?”</p>
<p>Saad (RA) replied, “I did not see the likes of al-Qaqa’a bin Amru.”</p>
<p>When Khalid bin Waleed (RA) requested aid from Abu Bakr (RA) while he was sieging al-Heera, he sent him Qaqa’a bin Amru and said “No army is defeated when there are the likes of Qaqa’a in their ranks.”</p>
